First day of school 2021

These are most certainly all words…..

No Jitter Glitter, this year! Team Tatum is decked out with fresh hair cuts, fresh nerd-garb & fresh attitudes… As per usual, the morning was a total mess with kids running around frantically looking for that one thing they forgot to set out the night before. And by “that one thing” I mean every single thing from school supplies in backpacks to socks and class schedules.

I cannot BELIEVE I have a SEVENTH & a FOURTH GRADER!

Before I know it, They’re going to be borrowing the keys to cart their friends around after school & asking for a ramen allowance for college. By the time the Pickle starts Kindergarten, Noah will be in high school & I will be hiding my greys with box dye… Just kidding. I already do that.

We started the morning BRIGHT and early.

So early, in fact, that I didn’t even grab my camera until hair was styled, clothes were on, backpacks were loaded & the threenager was awake.

Breakfast was had, teeth were (probably) brushed, and the jitters set in. I forgot the Jitter Glitter this year. Or, perhaps my big kids just thought it was a lame idea and I picked my battles. The world may never know!

Either way, we were ALL feeling something….. The big’s were feeling nervous, the mini-kid was feeling deep sadness that we dragged him off the Middle-school bus because his “school” is at home with mean old grumpy mom! Oh! Mom! Mom was feeling a wave of relief and relaxation wash over her. Why am I talking about myself in the third person?

One-by-one, the bigs chased after every bus that came by, until it was finally “their” bus. They are undeniably mine & they are the goofiest goobers around the clock at Bikini Bottom. Don’t forget to check out the Blooper Reel at the bottom of this blog for added entertainment value!

Noah decided he wanted to leave the tags on his backpack for some reason & it didn’t hurt me any, so I let him. I did, however, make sure he took the tags and stickers off his brand new school clothes lol. Peep the Pickle’s adorable tank from Spillthebeansetc.com. Andrew got the bright idea to have a mailbox photo & we deemed it our “ Annual First Day of School Mailbox Pic”. We will probably forget to do it, ever again. I set a reminder on my phone, so we shall see!

Take a pause and soak up these precious faces. I love them so much. My Pickle looks like a 12-years-overdue triplet. #stronggenes They change so much every time I stop to take pictures of them. Maybe I should take pictures more often….

Anyway, here are some of those “Annual First Day of School Mailbox” pics. Enjoy!

What good is a Back-to-School blog post without school bus shots!? Noah’s bus was just too far up the hill for me to chase after with a camera & Andy’s bus driver actually smiled and waved for me!

Sometimes we just have REALLY big emotions in really small bodies.

I had to duct-tape the Pickle to his daddy to keep him off the school bus. That Pickle is a Feisty little fellow when he wants something!
