Patterson 2 Conant 4.11.15 | Alabama Wedding Photographer
What a wonderful time in a young families' lives. Spring had sprung and there was beauty everywhere. The birds sang for Ms. Shawna Patterson, for they knew this was a day no one could forget. With all this southern charm and sweet tea, being an Alabama Wedding Photographer is where it's at!
The blushing bride arrived just after 7 am to prepare for her very last day as a single Patterson. Today her parents would give her away to her knight in shining armor, Chris. Nerves, giggles and smiles floated around as we hid in the room, anxiously awaiting 1pm! The aroma of honeysuckle hair spray(where did this stuff come from?! It was ahhhhmazing!) wafted and tickled everyone's noses as the hot rollers heated and the curling irons curled. The cosmetologists were hilarious! We were all giggling and everyone shared their stories, which helped with all those nerves!!
While the Bridal party put on the finishing touches, I wasted no time to get the intricate detail shots. You know, the beautiful cakes, the decorations! And to my amazement, I was greeted with a wealth of burlap and stars. It was just BREATHTAKING! I knew Ms. Patterson-err Conant* would absolutely be in awe of such love that was put into this reception for her! I almost teared up, y'all! I hustled around with my macro lens, capturing all the tiny details, like the baby's breath(everywhere! gasp!), the chocolate-dipped strawberries, and the cutest idea I think I have ever seen-a wheel barrow filled with seed-packets and a darling little sign which read, "Take one and watch love grow". SO adorable!
Finally! All the beautiful ladies were ready to go & pretty as a picture! Quite literally! We scurried to hide the groom, of whom was anxious to see his beautiful bride! And off we went! We cleared our throats and tried to keep everyone's eyes open at the same time! It only took 12345 tries! :-P! At last we got the *perfect* shot[s] and rushed back to hiding! We couldn't risk the groom catching a glimpse! Before we knew it, it was time!!! IT WAS TIME.
Everyone settled into their seats and patiently waited for the magic! I even made a few friends while prepping for my final run-through! I mean, who doesn't love to talk about upside-down gardens before a wedding ceremony[chuckle]!?
The music began and I hurried to my spot! HERE WE GO! Mother of the Bride, first, then Mother of the Groom. It was like a dream to the music of "A Thousand Years"(Which is totally like... the most perfect song EVER!) and here she came. I felt a little tear run down my cheek, since I am the overly-emotional type. I mean..... What photographer DOESN'T cry at a wedding? Sheesh. I am totally sane, I swear.
When I saw the tear rolling down daddy's face, I totally lost it! *keep it together, woman! This is no time for a foggy viewfinder! So I choked those puppies back & got myself together! Everything went off without a hitch! The communion, the unity candle, even the sweet nervous kiss! Then, it happened! A total Jami-moment! I was SO in awe of how beautiful and precious they were as they exited, that I didn't realize I was in the way of the Bridesmaids & Groomsmen! They had to clear their throats at me, guys! Seriously! lol. So, I stepped aside, and followed to the reception area. We caught some family portraits and threw the bouquet.
The reception was beautiful and the meatloaf meatballs were DELICIOUS! (yes, I stuffed my face and no-I am not ashamed) The cake-cutting would have to be my FAVORITE part, though... Mrs. Conant thought she had Chris good! She was so proud and had this hilarious smirk of accomplishment, right when he smashed a huge piece of cake in her face! It even went up her nose. I couldn't help but giggle to myself.
The flower girls came up with the BEST idea! They decided to dump the remainder of the petals over the Bride & Groom and it was way too cute. The Garter toss and last minute family/friends shots sealed the deal & they were off to Honeymoon as Mr. and Mrs. Chris Conant.
Congratulations, Guys!!!!

And as I drove home, the tears rolled, yet again, as I said my bittersweet goodbyes to wedding photography and started my new journey, focusing solely on family portraiture. I couldn't have asked for a better, more beautiful final wedding.
