Snow Day 2021
Sometimes you just need to take a break from life, have some fun and recharge those batteries. Sometimes you just need a Snow Day!
School’s out forever!
Today, school was canceled. The world of working-at-home had turned into utter chaos with a toddler and two pre-teens with nothing to do. There was arguing, and sulking, and messes being made. Potty training was put on hold because dad was busy with meetings and mom was working on client galleries. Then, by some stroke of luck, it actually started snowing! It was pure magic. SNOW DAY!
I'm sure to most people, that is no big deal, but to this family of Alabamians, it was such a treat! Jamison, almost 3, had never experienced snow before. He insisted on hiving his "lollipop" in the snow.
Prepare for a heartfelt snow day story
If you talk to any Alabamian about snow, the Snowmagedden of 1993 will come up in conversation. It's pretty much the only talking point there is because it set some records in the state. I was only 2.5 years old, then(About the same age as Lollipop kid in these images!), so I do not have many fond memories of that time. But, there is a vhs home video floating around somewhere of me walking off the porch and disappearing in the snow. My mom said I just poofed because the snow was taller than I was! This snow was barely there, so it's nothing like '93.
Side-note:
Apparently I've learned how to make gifs :D
Swooping in for Fun
The big kids finally joined in on the fun after they found socks and shoes. Anybody else's kiddos lose their belongings every time they walk in the house? Craziness. They decided against snow angels, but made Fortnite pickaxes instead.
Even dad joined us in shorts, socks & flip flops. He's something else. But I can't really talk because I was wearing his sweatpants & shoes and I had an ugly fuzzy sweater over the top. At least the toddler looked cute!
Huge Sigh…
I love these tiny breaks we get. Even 10 minutes outside trying to catch snowflakes on our tongues was enough to fill my mommy meter up for the day. Everyone came back in before lunch & the snow stopped.
Snow Day fun
Fun can still be had indoors when it’s snowing!
Snuggle Up
Now, the toddler & dad are nestled in the bed for a nap and the big kids are back at their video games & the magic of Snow Day has melted away. Life is mundane, once again.
Ps.
Here are some cute little southern-fried snow day snowflakes for your viewing pleasure!
