Do you need a quick, easy peasy Veterans day craft to throw together before the holiday? Why not this gorgeous tapestry!?

::DISCLAIMER : I KNOW THIS IS TECHNICALLY BACKWARDS. DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF FLAG YOU PURCHASE, YOURS WILL HANG ONE WAY OR THE OTHER ::

What you will need :

1. A 3 x 5' American flag
2. a 5/8" wooden dowel rod 3.5' long (you can get these in the craft isle at Walmart for $0.97! Get the red tipped one)
3. Jute Twine
4. Hammer
5. Nails
6. Carpet that needs to be vacuumed :-O

Optional but super-helpful : A power drill with twist drill bit attachments

STEP 1

pull your flag over the dowel rod and center it. From edge of flag to end of rod, mark the halfway point. Firmly hold the rod in place while you make a hole all the way through. You can do this either with a hammer and nail, then pull the nail back out to create the hole, OR you can use a drill with a twist bit, that is just slightly bigger around than your jute twine, like I did :).  

STEP 2

Slide your flag back onto the rod. Push the twine from the top hole through the bottom hole, then tie that puppy up! Add a drop of hot glue or anything super durable to add some extra support (but you shouldn't need it!)
