Day 1: Rainy Road Trip & a little bit ‘o beach

The road trip from Trussville, AL to St George Island was quite an adventure! As we embarked on the journey, storm clouds loomed overhead, unleashing torrential rain and thunder. The windshield wipers desperately fought to clear our view, and the lightning flashes added a dramatic element to the scenery. Despite the storms, we cautiously pressed on, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. The journey may have been wet and challenging, but it only made us more grateful when we finally arrived at our destination, the sunny shores of St George Island…

Except, you guessed it! Instead of sunny skies, it was just MORE RAIN! Shortly after we got unpacked into the beach house, the rain subsided and we caught a quick glimpse of sunshine and the ocean!

After soaking up the sun and sand at the beach for just a few short minutes, we knew it was time to switch things up and head to the pool. We strutted our way out of the sand and into the cool and refreshing waters of the pool. As our worries melted away, we lounged on the poolside chairs, sipping on our drinks, and relishing in that perfect balance of relaxation and fun.

As the evening rolled around, our hunger pangs led us to a delicious dinner, filling our bellies with scrumptious delights. Exhausted from all the excitement, we drifted off into a deep slumber, knowing that when we woke up, we were ready to conquer the world!

Day 2 | windy beach day

On day two of our beach vacation, despite the stormy weather and the water being closed to the public due to the double red flag, the kids found endless joy playing in the wet sand. As gusts of wind blew in and out all week, we decided to make the best of the situation and embrace the fun that could be had on land. With laughter echoing in the air, our feet sank into the damp sand as we built sandcastles and dug deep trenches. Jamison’s imagination ran wild as he created fantasy worlds, conquering the sandy terrain with his unwavering enthusiasm. I’m pretty sure he made the longest “road” in the sand known to mankind. It was heartwarming to witness his sheer happiness, reminding us that even in the face of unexpected challenges, joy can still be found.

The weather took a sudden turn for the worst. One minute, the sky was clear and sunny, and the next thing we knew, it was dark and ominous. The wind started howling fiercely, and the rain came down in heavy sheets. It was quite a sight!
As if that wasn't enough, we then received some alarming news: a tornado warning. Talk about a panic moment! We didn't waste any time - we quickly packed up our things and made our way to safety, seeking shelter from the approaching storm.

After the storms subsided, we filled our tummies! This time, we had tacos for dinner and they were delicious! The aroma of sizzling meat, warm tortillas, and flavorful seasonings filled the air, making our mouths water in anticipation. As we gathered around the kitchen counter, laughter and excitement filled the room. From the juicy meat to the tangy salsa, every bite was a delightful explosion of taste. Our taste buds danced with joy as we savored the mouthwatering combination of flavors in every taco. It was a meal that brought us together, creating memories and filling our bellies with pure delight.

With our bellies full, we settled into a cozy spot and hung out, deciding to watch Spiderman after we successfully talked the big boys into turning their beloved sports off for a while. It was a lighthearted and enjoyable evening, immersed in a world of superheroes and action-packed adventure. Snuggled up together, we laughed and cheered for Spiderman as he swung through the city, saving the day. It was a reminder of the simple joys of friendship and shared moments, where the excitement on-screen mirrored the happiness in our hearts.

Can you spot Jamison? Hint: he can’t hide those ginormous feet!
