World's Best Chicken & Dumplings in the World | Pell City family photographer

Guess what, y'all! This Pell City family photographer has a secret. Yup! A.BIG.SECRET.

What if I told you that I have written, on this very blog post, the meaning of life!? Yeah, I wouldn't believe that either. HAHA! But, I am going to come as close as I can.

In this post, I am going to share with you the essence of my childhood & the passion of my existence.... I am gonna teach you how to make some genuine Alabama Chicken & Dumplings!

WARNING: This recipe is not for the faint of heart, OR for any health-junkies out there! This is PACKED with calories, deliciousness, and good old Southern Charm. Go ahead and grab your comfy britches, cause you're definitely going to pop some buttons!

Step 1: Take your hiney to the grocery store

This is what you'll need:

THINGS:

  1. A whole chicken, baby! I prefer to buy them already cut up... But if you like getting your hands fairly dirty, go for the whole chicken and tear that puppy apart!
  2. Lemon Pepper
  3. Salt. I like Kosher Salt, but any old kind of salt will do!
  4. 2 cans, Or three if you are glutenous like me, of Grands! Homestyle BUTTER TASTIN' biscuits! You can also opt for 'Butter me Not' biscuits, But I find the Grands! much easier to come across. Just make SURE these biscuits come with little buttery chunks made into them ;). It's magic-sauce! DO NOT GET FLAKY BISCUITS OR I WILL CUT YOU!
  5. A large bottle of wine to drown your sorrows while slaving over a hot stove
  6. Seriously? Is that IT!? Yep. That's all there is to it, y'all!

STUFF:Dumplings 4

  1. Large Boiler pot
  2. WOODEN SPOON(There is a reason for this)
  3. Some plates
  4. A wine glass
  5. Child Slaves-Willing Assistants

Step 2: Get ready to rumble

  • Fill your boiler about 30% with water
    • Add some Lemon pepper & Salt
    • Bring to a boil
  • Boil your chicken while you do the next step. You want your chicken to be mostly-done.
  • Open those buttery biscuits!
    • separate 'em
    • tear 'em in half
    • roll 'em up into lumps
    • put 'em on a plate
  • Remove that chicken! Sit it on a plate to cool while you do thenext step :)
    • Don't forget to turn the stove back to medium heat, at this point.
  • Dunk your Dumplins'
    • Careful! One splash and you will feel the burn[pun intended]
    • Use your WOODEN spoon to 'roll' your dumplings over. Do not stir. Doughwon't stick to the wooden spoon, unless you're extra special and not kitchen-friendly, like me ;).
    • Once the dumplings look "shiny", you'll know you've done something right! They're done.
  • CAREFULLY remove the chicken skin & pull the chicken into small pieces, then drop them back into the pot with those delicious dumplings! (Go ahead and taste one of those fluffy things-I dare you)
  • Stir occasionally for about 10 minutes, or so.
    • Turn off stove
    • Let thicken for a few minutes
    • Serve

  Step 3: Enjoy

  • Bow to the chicken & dumplings master!!!!! *evil laugh* - what. just. happened.

So, Lets recap!

  • Buy it
  • Prep it
  • Boil it
  • Roll it
  • Stir it
  • Tear it
  • Stir it
  • Serve

BOOM!
